Religion and ethics

NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.

Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.

The following classes are offered at Turramurra North Public School:

Catholic SRE is provided by Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay. For more information about Catholic SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay website at https://www.bbcatholic.org.au/parish-community/ministries/ccd

Combined Christian SRE is provided by teachers who are authorised and trained by the following approved providers: Anglican Diocese of Sydney/Churches of Christ in NSW/Uniting Church in Australia.  The curriculum can be viewed at whysre.com.au.

Ethics is provided by the North Shore Primary Ethics. Volunteer ethics teachers use detailed lesson materials to deliver a curriculum of 79 topics. Most topics are designed to address particular ethical issues but a number are skill-focused and explicitly teach core critical thinking skills and encourage collaborative inquiry.  For more information about Primary Ethics including their authorised scope and sequence, visit their website at https://primaryethics.com.au/our-curriculum/

Students participate in lessons for 30 minutes on a Wednesday. During the time that SRE and SEE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities. Activities may include reading or private study.
